Spelling Pre-test Sentences 

1. (sum) We can determine the sum by adding the two numbers together. (sum)

2. (flat) The rear tire of my bicycle is flat.  (flat)

3. (plum) Our plum orchard is full of ripe and reddish-purple fruits. (plum)

4. (bell) The metal school bell rang loudly. (bell)

5. (grim) His face looked grim because he knew the news wouldn't be good).

6. (plot) The book's plot is about a woman who is searching for her missing sister. (plot).

7. (band) You can take band to learn how to play an instrument in 5th grade. (band)

8. (bluff) What he is saying is all a bluff to make us think he has more power than he actually has.  (bluff)

9. (dock) A dock extends into the water so you can tie your boat to it. (dock)

10. (blot) She tried to blot the marker stain out of the paper, but it wouldn't work. 

11. (odd) He thought it was odd that his mom left her cell phone at home, because she usually takes it everywhere she goes. (odd)

12. (left) You only have a few days left to study your spelling words! (left)

13. (cash) The paper form of money is called cash. (cash)

14. (mill) The stone mill grounded the wheat into flour. (mill)

15. (past) If it is in the past it happened before now. (past)

16. (shelf) Please put all of the books on the shelf.  (shelf) 

17. (wealth) Your wealth is not always measured in money.  (wealth)

18. (crunch) She heard a loud crunch under her feet while she was looking for her candy bar. (crunch)

19. (hint) The students asked the teacher to give them a hint about the answer but she would not. (hint) 

20. (build) I will build the tallest tower in Roblox and then I will be the king of Roblox. (build)
